Rue

You held me in your arms for such a short time.
You talked of love and marriage,
And you said your heart was mine.
But, I already had too much baggage.
You lifted my shirt and touched my back,
You pulled me closer, held me tighter.
I’d give anything to now backtrack,
And not be such a fighter,
To relive the moment open and free,
Be accepting of the love
And devotion you offered me,
Not push you away with a shove.
